first entry. [27 Jan 2010|11:47pm]
As much fun as I had in Utah, I'm glad to be back in L.A. It was cold as fuck there and I swear I thought my nose was going to fall off on more than one occasion. Sundance was great this year though, and I had a good deal of down time in between interviews and the screenings to just chill with Dakota, Joan, and Cherie. Joan did this amazing set at this over 21 club. Dakota and I couldn't go in but she brought us out on stage. That was cool. Who would have thought that I would wind up becoming actual friends with the fucking epicness that is Joan Jett? Words can't really express how honored I am to have had the opportunity to portray her on film.

Of course playing a prostitute was obviously the epitome of my career as we know it.

I was lucky enough to have the chance to speak with some girls that actually live that day in and day out. I don't want to say that they all have the same story, but they kind of do. It's really sad how these girls live and I couldn't imagine having to go through it every day of my life. It was a challenge to play that kind of character, and I'm still hoping that I did it some sort of justice. I don't need those women being all, "oh this girl has no idea what she's talking about!"

I was at Sundance for two movies, neither of which include vampires and humans falling in love and yet I was still asked about it. How the fuck is that possible? I don't mind it, but if I'm there for other projects at least ask me about those first. Ask me about Eclipse in May and June. Yes, Breaking Dawn is a go. No, I do not know who the director is (do we even have one yet?) and no, I do not know the filming schedule yet or if it will be made into one or two movies. But I have good news on it!

I'm still playing Bella Swan. Amazing and completely unexpected, I know.

In all seriousness, I do care about these books and the movies just as much as the fans do. I'm growing with Bella and I'm very protective of her, now. The fan following is still entirely overwhelming for me, but I can imagine that it's ten times worse for the guys. Most of the fans are girls and they'd rather follow around Rob over me. Is it wrong that I find it fucking hilarious? I could have done without them finding us in London though. No fucking privacy anymore. No, I do not feel like confirming or denying anything right now. But I'm too tired to care so draw your own conclusion.

Excuse me while I study the inside of my eyelids for the next ten hours.

As per usual, Sundance was always a wonderful experience. It was a chance to really get to know some incredible individuals that were also involved in the film industry, and being able to network with others from all walks of life. Although it could be perceived as conceited to a fair amount of people, Kristen felt incredibly lucky to be able to say that she was there to promote not just one particular piece, but two of them, both of which were very dear to her at this point in her life. Although she had been in many roles prior to picking up her now infamous portrayal of Bella Swan, it was the one that now defined her. Everyone perceived her as this human girl that fell in love with a vampire that has to force himself to not suck her body dry of blood. While that may not be too far from the truth in real life, it wasn't something that she wanted to always be recognized for. She wanted not only potential directors to realize that she was a decently well-rounded actress, but the fans as well.

Though that had only been part of the reason she took on the great challenge of playing the epic rock icon that is and will always be Joan Jett.

Utah had been very welcoming and it had been nice to spend some time with Dakota and the rest of her cast mates from both films, but the moment that she felt the plane stutter to a stop on the landing strip in Los Angeles she breathed a sigh of relief. It was nice to be home, even if that meant she would be away from other people that she cared for deeply, though she wasn't about to name any names. Especially given the little detail that their publicists wouldn't be too thrilled with such an admission. At least she would be able to spend some quiet time with her family for a little while before her schedule became too hectic to do so anymore.

Kristen pulled the hood of her coat over her head, not bothering to tuck the stray black locks beneath the fabric as she stumbled tiredly to her feet. She hadn't bothered to bring more than one carry-on bag; she wasn't going to bother paying for that ridiculous fee. It took her all of ten minutes to step off of the aircraft itself before she finally found herself at the baggage claim though she was quite surprised to find that her suitcase was already on the belt. She hurried forward to pull it off and snapped the metal handle from the top of it up so that she could roll it out of the airport. She really just wanted to get back home, even if it was her brother picking her up.

Upon seeing him, she released a breathy chuckle and shook her head as she drew nearer to him. He promptly wrapped his arms around his younger sibling while she vehemently protested, even though she had missed him quite a bit. And then she saw the car that he selected to pick her up in. "Cam, are you ever going to get rid of that fucking thing?"

"Hell no," he grinned and released his grip on her. Kristen sighed and rolled her eyes at him and wheeled her suitcase toward the older vehicle. "I'm surprised it hasn't broken down on you yet. I'm sure it probably wants to retire from the torture that you've put it through."

"Yeah yeah. So how did that lesbian scene go down? Will I have to put blinders on mom and dad when we see it?" he quipped, forcing Kristen to grunt as she shoved her suitcase into the back seat of the car and climbed into the passenger's seat. "Best moment of my entire career," she replied simply, casting a quick glance over her shoulder in his direction and proceeded to put on her sunglasses.

Time to go home.
